Using Purified Gems
Purified Gems can only be used once the Shadow Raid Boss reaches an “enraged” state, which occurs after it loses about 1/3 of its HP. Once a sufficient amount of Purified Gems is used, the Shadow Raid Boss will set its “calm” state early , which removes the buff given from enraged status.
Each Raid Battle requires at least 8 Purified Gems from each trainer participating in the match to trigger the calm state of the Shadow Raid Boss. Each trainer can use 5 purified gems per Raid Battle. There is a 5 second wait time between each first user. If you lose the match, the purified gems cannot be returned.
In obtaining Shadow Shards, trainers can challenge Team Rocket more often which can be found at PokeStops or via hot air balloons located around the trainer’s location.
